When I set out to spend time with my brother I also wanted to spend some time with my mother who had been in the hospital a couple of times in resent months. I had no real expectations but I did pray that she would be open to the information I was their to provide. Knowing she is from a different generation and also know that we have the DNA that must be connected to being stubborn I knew that I had to walk into the situation with a loving and patient heart.
She was diagnosed with diverticulitis and had some episodes where she started to bleed internally. While in the hospital her heart stopped for a few minutes and it was recommended for her to have a pace maker put in, thank God for medical science.
All our minds were relieved by knowing her heart was going to be protected in the future but I knew that she had to start to be proactive about her health.
So after spending the weekend with my brother Mansfield I was off to spend time with my mom. I knew thar putting her on a pure liquid cleanse for three day would be difficult. I decided to modify my program for her a bit. Because having diverticulitis doesn’t allow you to eat too much fiber I needed to be aware to not overload her system with to many raw or cooked vegetables I decided to encourage her to eat avocado’s & tomatoes. On the next post is the plan I put my mother on…
